LANVIN After shock

All in done, the wave of LANVIN ♡ H&M is finally gone after day 3 (here in Sweden at least). The reporter said that most item is off the rack. Only expensive items that still some left. So for all fashionista out there what do you think of the collection. For my opinion, LANVIN do not let me down. Very impress with the women collection and interesting to see the detailing on men’s. Details, style and shape is very LANVIN (if you look back to some of his old collection). Fabric choice is very interesting especially to men’s line. I did not know that using women’s fabric can look so fabulous on men’s! I do not disappoint to be waking up at 6.30 at all. Not so often that we can see some fabulous work of the famous designer so closely.

Before I fill you in with all the juicy comment and observation, let me bring back some history about this brand. Jeanne Lanvin is one of the most influential designers of the 1920s and '30s. She began her career by sawing dresses to her daughter and soon her reputation of intricate trimmings, virtuoso embroideries and beaded decorations become well known. Use of light fabric, floral color and delicate details soon became a Lanvin trademark.

Now a day LANVIN, the oldest fashion house of France, is still standing tall as one of the most influential high-end premium brand of all time. As for all design we have to give applause to Alber Elbaz, LANVIN artistic director. It still came to a surprise how H&M trick such huge brand to join in the campaign.

Luckily I didn’t wake up as early as others since my focus is mainly for men’s collection. Thus I could not help myself exploring the women’s collection as well. As I was standing in line as “group#2” I couldn’t help notice people around me. I was by myself and I would say a company in this situation would be nice. 2 women in front of me are very cool while waiting, having coffee and doing make up. Talking about using time wisely. Girl be hide me is preparing herself for online-shopping with a notebook in her hand. I also notice that some of the people there is a bit not ‘LANVIN-style’. Some have the printed collection with many circles on it, some come with a plan of who will shop what. My guess is some of those are shopping for their daughters and some is shopping for the E-bay. As I heard later on that night that the price went up double already.

Kista 7.40 AM

First store was done at about 9 AM as I rush out to another one in the city to collect other items on the list. As I stepped in the flagship store about 10.15, the queue for women’s still line up. I finally got everything in my bag and willing to take it little easy and observe some more. Things are not much different from other store I went to. Thus there was more foreign people here and more fashion fighter. Am I so lucky to get the last sunglass (probably last in Sweden)! One of the cutest thing I saw from all these chaos is this one lady, look like a mom, is shopping with a list on one hand, shopping bag on her shoulder and vitamin drink in the other hands. Speaking of all the thing you do for fashion. My boyfriend is right we are all crazy fashion victim. Before my first day end, I got to chat with a very nice H&M staff as I was at the cashier. I asked how crazy it was this morning. She said lucky she wasn’t there but she heard it was crazy but in good control. She also gave me an extra shoes bag. Thank you 

2nd day started about 10.30 in the city. Pretty much stop by 3 main stores to pick up some left over. Lucky to get a few things for my friends and got to try out a few dress I love but have no where to wear them to. Most of the items were gone. Only left with some pricy one and few coats and some shoes. I say a lot of people come for round 2 like me. And some come back for more e-bay project. Things are more calm and no time limit today. What a relieve!

2nd day H&M : Sergelgatan 1 and  Hamngatan 22

Day 3: Very few left in the stores, most guy’s are gone, some shoes still there. Heard from a friend in Oslo that there are still many items left there. Likely maybe because of the -12 degree is stopping people from coming or they just don’t get it.

Round up: I got to thinking as I ride a train home that Sweden must be one of the nicest countries to be shopping for this type of event. From what I heard some of the place can be pretty nasty. My boyfriend said I’m obsessed with this whole LANVIN things, if I put as much afford in to my Swedish I would probably be over the moon already. Well, baby I gonna denial that accusation. Even though all I get out of this experience is 2 T-shirts (one for me and one for you) but I enjoy every sweat of it. Once I promise myself to do anything I love, I tend to be the very best of it. No matter how difficult it may seem. I will finds a solution and make it happen. So once I got appointed to do this project, I will not let my reputation down. Beside it is an experience that not a lot of people will get to taste. I do not concern just about LANVIN clothing but how people react to the whole thing as well as how marketing issue come to a perspective. After all I need my material to write to my fans.

Marketing strategy, in my opinion H&M have been constantly very superb with their marketing campaign. Weekend before the launch, 3 minutes advertisement of LANVIN ♡ H&M was on air as a kick reminder. Tuesday 23rd , banner advertisement is cross the front page of Metro newspaper (Local/free newspaper for Stockholm). Not only they publish a 2 pages spread on page 1 and 2 but also the next page 3 and 4 as well. I could say it REALLY in your face. We all know that people will show up more than a thousand at 8AM for the collection and so there’s no need to advertise as huge as they did but considered their reputation, I don’t think H&M can do anything small. Some time you just have to marketing yourself for a ‘statement’ and I’m sure it is another year H&M do that to all of us fashion victims.

Wonder what will be joining H&M next year. . . what is your wish, my dear reader?
